Hello Pebbles Friends! I’m so excited and honoured to be back for another creative year with Pebbles! And of course, with the new year comes so many new possibilities and new beginnings. Today I want to share a layout that expresses my intended goals for 2018.
At the start of each new year I always have good intentions but not necessarily the motivation to follow through. This time of year is always extremely busy and in Australia, we are also dealing with the end of Summer Holidays and a return to a new school year.
My idea with this layout was to start fresh with the gorgeous Girl Squad collection. I love the motivation phrases and positive outlook it can inspire. Originally I was going to have a white cardstock background, but the pink Girl Squad patterned paper just brings life to the overall page. The first step is to trim the patterned paper to allow a small border of white cardstock to show around the outside edge. Next, machine stitch on top of the paper to help secure it to the cardstock.
Next, cut out four or five sections from the You Got This Patterned Paper so it resembles pocket page filler cards. To fit my page, I had to trim each card separately along the length. The cards are narrow but the fit is easier on the eye!
To create the journaling card, I have used the reverse side of You Got This. To ground this element to my page I wanted something heavier on the top. The fold over flap has been secured with tape on the back and a paperclip to prevent the journaling becoming permanently obscured. Check out the photo step by step below..
Add the constructed journaling card to the layout and start to build the layers of patterned paper around it. Leave the center area clean for title placement.
The We R Memory Keepers mini Alphabet Punchboard is the perfect tool to create your own title work. By selecting coordinating patterned paper from the Girl Squad Mini Paper Pad, the title has zeroed in on the purpose of creating this layout.
Overlap and layer the title with the existing paper clusters on your page to create a consistent flow.
For dimension and definition, mount some paper elements with foam tape to offer interest to the viewers eye.
Complete your layout with a few colour coordinated visual triangles with the help of the Girl Squad ephemera paper pieces.
Thanks for visiting the Pebbles blog today.
