Hello everyone, it’s Eva Pizarro today on the blog talking about what I think it is the best way to learn how to scrapbook: make a scraplift.
Whenever someone asks me how to start scrapbooking I always suggest this technique. Scraplifting is basically using another project as your guide and recreate the same overall design. You might change the colors, the theme but the design of the page remains the same.
For this project, I decided to scraplift a gorgeous layout from another Design Team member: Leanne Allinson. She used the Midnight Haunting collection to create this fall layout and I loved the layering and how the black and white photos stand out.
After that, I created the base for my photos using several pieces of patterned paper from the 6×6 Forever My Always paper pad and layering them randomly. I noticed Leanne used different sized papers mixing colors and patterns so I tried to do the same.
As much as I loved Leanne’s title, I decided to use this gorgeous gold Thickers from the Forever my Always line.
Finally, I added some embellishments following the diagonal line in Leanne’s original design.
I love the final layout! I took me less than an hour to finish everything because all I had to do was follow Leanne’s project.
If you are starting scrapbooking, choose a few projects that you love and try to scraplift them. Maybe you will discover your favorite style and little by little you are not going to need help to come up with a design idea of your own.
Thanks for joining me and have a great week!
