Do you know someone who loves writing notes or sending cards, but maybe doesn’t love creating handmade cards themselves? I have a few special people in my life who fit this description…and since I LOVE making cards, I thought I’d gift one of my friends with a set of cards that she can then use to brighten the days of some of her family/friends!
The cards are quick and easy to make with supplies from the “This is Family” collection! I’ll share a quick little tutorial – but be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see how I’m going to “package” these cute cards together for gifting!
Start with a 6″ x 5″ piece of black cardstock for each card base. Score at 3″ to make a 3″ x 5″ folded card.
Since the cards are black, it’s not so easy to write on the inside. We’ll remedy this situation by cutting some of the printed recipe cards to fit inside! Trim a 6″ x 4″ recipe card to 2 3/4″ x 4″
Use the beautiful coordinating washi tape to secure it to the inside of the card!
Now it’s time to decorate the front of the card! Cut a piece of patterned paper to 2 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ and stitch with white thread around the edges.
Choose a lovely tag from the tag set that coordinates with this collection. Pick a coordinating paper and use the tag as a template to cut a second tag shape from the patterned paper. Punch a hole in the top and layer them together. You may want to use a bit of adhesive in the middle to keep them secure.
Add a bit of foam adhesive to the back of the tag duo and place the entire piece on the stitched paper. Tie jute or string through the holes and add a bow to the top!
Place the entire piece on the front of the card to complete it!
Wasn’t that so easy??
Now repeat the process to create as many cards as you’d like.
Don’t forget the insides!
It would be sweet to give the card set as a gift just like this, or with a ribbon tied around them…but it is also fun to create a little coordinating box to hold them! Of course, you know I opted for a box! I found a free “fry box” digital template online and used it to create a box to fit my card set.
I used tags and ephemera to embellish the front just a bit!
And then I tucked the cards right inside to give to my bff!
As you can see, there’s room for a few more cards or even a little treat – and who wouldn’t love a little treat?!?
And happy gifting!
