Hi everyone. Heather Leopard is here with a butterfly scrapbooking layout that can be completed in 45 minutes if you have the right tools and can work fast. To help you along the way, I’ve documented the process in the video at the end of this blog post. Once you get the patio party collection in your hands, or any other supplies you’d like, you can follow along with me to create this fun layout.

Paper peicing – 12 minutes

Butterfly scrapbooking layout andprocessvideo by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #jenhadfield #patioparty collection #madewithpebbles
To get started, cut a supersized butterfly using your electronic cutting machine. Peel the butterfly from the mat and also save the larger bits you cut out to use as templates for filling in the holes with patterned paper. Next, choose 5 – 7 coordinating patterned papers. This is where you could spend too much time overthinking things. DO NOT overthink the pattern placement. If you are working with papers within the same collection, chances are they will look good next to each other. Just pick up a paper and get started…Starting at the top, select the template you reserved from the butterfly. Place it over your patterned paper and cut around it, leaving just enough edge around the perimeter – maybe 1/8″ or 1/4″ inch. It just really depends on the design. Once you’ve cut that out, discard the template and adhere the patterned paper to the back of the butterfly. You should have a perfect or near perfect fit. Repeat until all spaces are filled.

Secure the butterfly to the page, machine stitching down the center and adhering the left patterned paper side with foam dots.

Butterfly clustering – 12 minutes

Butterfly scrapbooking layout andprocessvideo by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #jenhadfield #patioparty collection #madewithpebbles
Next, you are going to add flower and butterfly embellishments to the top of the other side. Make sure you save space for your photo (I used a 3″x3″ inch photo. I adhered my photo using foam dots and then filled in around it, adding flowers and butterflies. Once that was complete, I moved along the butterfly, adding flowers and butterflies along the edge of the butterfly and working inward to fill in all the spaces. I adhered some directly to the paper with liquid glue and I popped others up using foam dots. I worked this pretty fast to fill in all the spaces.

Add the finishing touch – 6 minutes

In the time remaining, you just need to add a title, a cluster or flowers / butterflies on the patterned paper wing and around the title and journaling.

Craft along with me

As promised, here is the process video I created for this butterfly scrapbooking layout.  I sped up the time so you don’t have to sit and watch me for 45 minutes.  Remember: don’t overthink this, you too can re-create this in under an hour, maybe even 30 minutes if you don’t have any interruptions.

Thanks for stopping by today.

xoxo, Heather

Baby Scrapbooking Layout | Night Night

Hi everyone.  Heather Leopard here and I just love working with baby collections. My babies aren’t so little anymore but I have tons of photos left to scrap.  A baby scrapbooking layout is the perfect excuse to go into the vault and print some of those photos.

Baby Scrapbooking Layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #NightNight collection #madewithpebbles #baby #babyscrapbook

Today’s layout combines all of my favorite things…a single focus photo that tells the story, supersized title, repeating pattern and an area for handwritten journaling.

Baby Scrapbooking Layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #NightNight collection #madewithpebbles #baby #babyscrapbook

I started out by figuring out where I wanted my title to be, which just happens to take up 2/3 of the page.  To make sure everything was precise, I designed the page in my die cutting machine software.  Once I had the title in place, I added space for the photo.  I had to adjust the size of the title ever so slightly to accommodate my photo.  Next, I added stars around the title, adding the bulk at the top and adding fewer and fewer as I went down the page.  I made sure to save room for sticker embellishments as well.

Baby Scrapbooking Layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #NightNight collection #madewithpebbles #baby #babyscrapbook

Next, I glued patterned papers to the back of the stars, in varying patterns, making sure no two patterns were too close to each other.

Baby Scrapbooking Layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #NightNight collection #madewithpebbles #baby #babyscrapbook

Then, I added the title to the page.  You can see I lined my star cuts up when I was designing the page so that they would be the dots to each “i” in “twinkle twinkle”.

Optional: I chose to stitch around and through a few select stars. Some stars got an outer border, while some had another star stitched over them and others were rounded out with wonky circles.  Other stars were left as-is.  I also added stitching under the “twinkle twinkle” amd under the “R” at the end of the word “STAR”.  I chose to highlight the R because my daughter’s name starts with an R.

Baby Scrapbooking Layout by @heatherleopard using @pebblesinc #NightNight collection #madewithpebbles #baby #babyscrapbook

Last but not least, the “star” of the show, the photo.  I added a few patterned papers as layers behind the photo and then tucked a flower die cut and “dream baby” flag.  Then I added additional embellishments around the page, adding more stars, clouds and a sweet little moon.

I left space to add journaling.  I have a lot to say about sleepy time so I will collect my thoughts and add the journaling in a day or two.

Tell me, whether you’re scrapping your baby, your youth or someone else’s baby, are you caught up or are you like me and just a little (or a lot) behind on your baby scrapbooking?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy 2018 everyone!  Heather Leopard is here with a fun, festive 2018 scrapbooking layout and 2018 cut file graphic. Whether you went out or stayed home, document how you rang in the new year.

2018 New Years Scrapbook Layout and free cut file by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #happyhooray and #girlsquad collections #madewithpebbles #silhouettecameo

2018 Scrapbooking Layout Supplies

To create this layout, download the free cut file I created HERE. You’ll also need 4 patterned papers for the 2018 plus additional papers for the background and layers around the photo, foam dots and embellishments.

Celebrate 2018

2018 New Years Scrapbook Layout and free cut file by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #happyhooray and #girlsquad collections #madewithpebbles #silhouettecameo

I created the file so that the numbers layer over each other.  I chose to apply the layers starting with the 8 and working back to the 2 so that the 8 layers over the 1 over the 0 over the 2. Look closely at the patterns where they overlap and then you do whatever works best for your layout.

Time for Photos

2018 New Years Scrapbook Layout and free cut file by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #happyhooray and #girlsquad collections #madewithpebbles #silhouettecameo

I printed my photos to 3″ x 3″ size and then added layers of patterned paper and white cardstock. Next, I added more chipboard, die cuts and enamel confetti around the photos. I even added “hip hip hooray” over part of the 8 as well as over the photo.

Embellish!

I added a little party hat and more enamels to the top right of the layout to continue the fun, festive vibe.

Celebrate!

I added a chipboard word, “celebrate”, to the top left over the 2. Now when you look at the overall layout, you can see a triangle of embellishments from the celebrate to the party hat to the happy day at the bottom.

We Believe Christmas Traditions Scrapbooking Layout

Merry Christmas, y’all!   Heather Leopard is here today to tell you about one of my family’s Christmas traditions – train ride to see Santa via the Polar Express in our Christmas pajamas from our house elves.  The girls get super excited when they discover these gifts from their elves, who by the way end up covered in tape and wrapping paper. It’s so funny and so cute to watch the girls.  I’ve documented this story on this scrapbooking layout.

We snapped these photos while waiting for the train to take us to the North Pole. The girls even received a golden ticket for the ride.

Gather your supplies

Christmas Traditions Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #merrymerry collection #madewithpebbles #scrapbooking #scrapbook #Christmas #ChristmasTraditions #ChristmasTree #Cutfile

You’ll need 5 – 9 patterned papers, scissors or die cut machine, the free cut file I designed, mist or other ink medium, die cuts and other embellishments as listed in supplies below.

Document your Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #merrymerry collection #madewithpebbles #scrapbooking #scrapbook #Christmas #ChristmasTraditions #ChristmasTree #Cutfile

Hand cut the pieces of your Christmas tree or download my free cut file HERE. Cut each piece and arrange on the page to make sure you like how it looks. Don’t add adhesive yet.  You may choose to cut each piece using a different pattern like I did, the same pattern or a repeating pattern. Either way, it will look fantastic.  I chose to spread them out with a little space here and there but you might want to place them right next to each other without the space.

Christmas Traditions Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #merrymerry collection #madewithpebbles #scrapbooking #scrapbook #Christmas #ChristmasTraditions #ChristmasTree #Cutfile

Next, spray gold mist lightly over your background paper. Once dry, splatter red, green and gold.  Let that dry as well.

Add your tree pieces back to the page and add some random, creative stitching.  Don’t worry about perfection. It was designed to have some irregularities.

Christmas Traditions Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @PebblesInc #merrymerry collection #madewithpebbles #scrapbooking #scrapbook #Christmas #ChristmasTraditions #ChristmasTree #Cutfile

Add some puffy stickers as decorations for your trees to add a bit more dimension.  Try to pick out stickers that are the same color as or coordinate with the patterned paper.

Christmas Traditions Documented

Add your photos and other embellishments and don’t forget your journaling.  While I am going to create a complimentary Christmas traditions pocket page with photos of the elves and extensive journaling, I left space at the top of the photos to add journal strips.

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout | Midnight Haunting

Happy Halloween, everyone!  Heather Leopard is here with a spooktacular Trick or Treat scrapbooking layout today.  My daughter has been wearing her Halloween costume every day since we got it a few weeks ago.  She asked if she could try out the bow and arrow so we headed out to the yard and what do you know? This toy set actually worked.  I grabbed my camera real quick and took a few action shots.  I just loved this one where she looked up at me so I had to scrap it.

Trick or Treat scrapbooking layout supplies:

Take a look at how the Trick or Treat scrapbooking layout came together

Gather your favorite Midnight Haunting ot combination of Halloween supplies.  I used at least 6 different patterned papers, maybe even more, plus stickers and my electronic die cutting machine.

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #MidnightHaunting collection #Halloween #scrapbooking #scrapbook #trickortreat

Make a super-sized Trick or Treat statement using your favorite font, or download one from your cutting machine’s store, like I did.  Design the page in the die cut software to make sure everything fits just right and then you can do one of two things…..1, cut the letters from the background paper or 2, cut each letter from your patterned paper of choice.  I chose option 1.

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #MidnightHaunting collection #Halloween #scrapbooking #scrapbook #trickortreat

After choosing option 1, I hand cut papers to add to the back of the page, shifting them around until I felt the patterns were evenly distributed. You can see that I just have them placed under each letter.  I’ll trim them up as I adhere them to the back of the paper.

Make it stand out!

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #MidnightHaunting collection #Halloween #scrapbooking #scrapbook #trickortreat

I wanted the words to POP so I traced around each of the letters and what a difference that made!

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #MidnightHaunting collection #Halloween #scrapbooking #scrapbook #trickortreat

Since I was doing a Halloween layout about my Archer Girl, I added a fun arrow-like design to the page, where there was a big open gap.  It filled the space perfectly and really tied the photo better to the page.  The arrow I selected had openings in the feather tips so I added a couple of patterns there too.

Add your finishing touches

Trick or Treat Scrapbooking Layout by @HeatherLeopard using @pebblesinc #MidnightHaunting collection #Halloween #scrapbooking #scrapbook #trickortreat

Next, I added my photo and embellishments, placing a few butterflies and stars scattered here and there.

So, this Halloween, will you ask her for an archery trick or give her a treat?
