Hi everyone! Amanda here today with a quick and easy holiday ornament that you can use to dress up your own tree or use as a sweet holiday gift.
Handmade ornaments are one of my favorite joys of the season. In our house we like to make ornaments for our own tree, as well as give them as gifts to others. With a few basic crafting supplies and some adorable Winter Wonderland stickers, you can put together some charming holiday ornaments. The little snowmen and critters are perfectly sized for a 3″ clear plastic ornament that you can find at nearly every craft store this time of year.
I can hardly stand the cuteness of this little wintry fox.
This little snowman, with his face pointed toward the sky almost looks as though he is playing in the snow. There are plenty of snowmen in the Winter Wonderland collection to just make a collection of snowman ornaments.
I can tell my cat is really going to like knocking this one out of the tree.
To make the snow globe ornaments you will need: Clear plastic ornaments, Winter Wonderland stickers, foam adhesive, scrap cardstock, and fake snow. You may also want ribbon to add a pretty bow and some string to create a hanger. TIP: I keep my fake snow in a repurposed Parmesan cheese container. It makes it super easy to sprinkle snow wherever needed.
Start by “un-stickying” your stickers. This will keep the fake snow from sticking to everything. Wendy Sue shares an easy technique for removing stickiness from stickers HERE. Then stack a few foam circles to the back of your sticker. This will allow your trees to pop off of the back of the ornament. Cut one foam sticker in half so the foam follows the curve of the ornament.
After you have stacked foam adhesive on the back of your tree stickers, position the trees on the back of the ornament, a little to the left or a little to the right, depending on how you want to set up your scene.
Create a little stand out of scrap cardstock and adhere it to the back of your snowman or critter. Adhere the stand to the bottom middle of your ornament half.
Shake a little bit of show into your ornament until it is about 1/2″ deep. Snap the two halves of the ornament together and add a decorative ribbon. TIP: Secure snow globes by adding a dab of glue (I used E6000) to the top and bottom of the snow globe halves. This will keep little hands (and cats) from breaking them in half.
